Why we love it here!
St. George is perhaps one of the most beautiful desert areas in the United States. As a family friendly community, we are surrounded by red sandstone cliffs; with alpine forests and mountains in the distance. At 2800 feet above sea level, we have mild winters (yes, palm trees grow here) and over 300 days of sunshine a year!
The county population is around 140,000, so you get the small hometown feel, yet we're big enough to have all the retail that you would expect in a larger city; i.e. Target, Wal-mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Dillards, Sears, JC Penney. etc. We have all the restaurants that you would expect in a town this size including an Olive Garden, and an In-n-Out Burger!
This is a paradise for those who love the outdoors. Hiking and biking possibilities are endless. We have three reservoirs within 30 minutes for boating and water-sking. It the local lakes aren't big enough for you, Lake Mead and Lake Powell are about an hour and a half away! We are within 45 minutes of Zion National Park, and an hour and a half away from Bryce Canyon National Park or the Grand Canyon.
Want to drive to larger cities for the weekend??? Las Vegas is 1 1/2 hours away, Salt Lake City is 4 hours, and Los Angeles is a 5 1/2 hour drive. Our local airport flies to/from Salt Lake and Los Angeles. From Las Vegas you can fly anywhere in the country, and pretty cheaply too! But believe us, its such a nice area, you'll want to stick around here, we have the best backyard in the world!
